2013年世界知识产权日来临之际，世界知识产权组织总干事弗朗西斯·高锐在致辞中指出：“我要对下一代说的就是：不断创造，不断创新。同时还要不断思考，在未来对创造和创新的社会管理中，知识产权应当如何完成其使命”。
每年的“世界知识产权日”都有一个主题：2012年的主题是“天才创新家”。世界知识产权日来临之际，世界知识产权组织总干事弗朗西斯·高锐在致辞中指出，我们的发展离不开创新，没有创新，作为人类，我们就将原地踏步。
