狼的拉丁文名称是‘Canis lupus’。狼属于中型食肉兽，虽然体态中等，但很多大型动物见了都要退避三舍，所以狼处于大自然这跟食物链的上端。
沈石溪原名沈一鸣，1952年生于上海，祖籍浙江慈溪。他创作以动物小说为主，已出版作品五百多万字。
